How the Palworld Breeding Calculator Works
Palworld’s breeding system pairs any two pals (one male, one female) at a Breeding Farm, eats a Cake, and produces an egg. The egg always hatches into a specific child. The calculator above tells you which one.
The math behind it: each pal has a hidden combiRank value (also called “breeding power”). The child is the pal whose combiRank is closest to floor((parent_A.combiRank + parent_B.combiRank + 1) / 2). On top of that, ~70 specific named pairs are hardcoded by the game to produce specific rare or “Lux” / “Cryst” / “Ignis” variant pals. The calculator handles both paths.
Things this calculator does that other Palworld breeding tools don’t:
- Reverse lookup. Switch to “Find parents for a target” mode, pick the pal you want, and see every pair that produces it.
- Shareable URLs. Pick your parents and click “Copy share link”. You get a URL pre-filled with your selection. Paste it into Discord or Reddit and your friends see the same result.
- Embed code. Click “Get embed code” and drop the calculator into your own wiki, blog, or Discord-linked page with a single <iframe> tag.
- Mobile-first. The dropdowns are 44px finger targets. The pickers stack vertically on phones.
For the deep mechanics (passive skill inheritance, IV stats, breeding farm setup, cake recipes), read the full Palworld breeding guide. Frostallion is its own beast: see the Frostallion location, hatching, and breeding stats deep-dive.
Top-Tier Breeding Combinations
Some of the most-asked combos:
- Anubis. One of the strongest non-legendary pals; bred from Penking + Bushi.
- Frostallion Noct. Frostallion + Helzephyr.
- Jormuntide Ignis. Jormuntide + Suzaku, or Mossanda + Relaxaurus Lux.
- Lyleen Noct. Lyleen + Menasting.
- Faleris. Galeclaw + Mossanda. One of the best ranged-attack pals to breed early.
- Suzaku Aqua. Suzaku + Jormuntide.
Use the calculator above to verify any combo. The data is from the game’s current breeding tables and stays correct across patches.
The “Cake Economy”
Each breeding cycle costs one Cake. Cake recipe at the Cooking Pot:
- 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs, 2 Honey.
Set up a sustainable cake farm (wheat plot, berry plot, milk-producing pals like Mozzarina, egg-laying pals like Chikipi, honey-producing pals like Beegarde) and breeding becomes a renewable activity. The Sakurajima update added the Philanthropist passive, which speeds up egg production at the breeding farm. Useful on a parent that stays at the farm full-time.
The Egg Incubator
- Crafting Materials: 10 Paldium Fragment, 5 Cloth, 30 Stone.
- Speeds up egg hatching.
- Heat sources speed up warm-element eggs (Scorching, Common). Cold sources speed up cold eggs (Frozen, Damp).
- Match the egg’s preferred temperature for the fastest hatch. Mismatched temperature roughly halves hatch speed.
Passive Inheritance Mechanics
- Up to 4 passives can transfer per child. The game rolls an inheritance count between 1 and 4 with weighted probability, then picks that many passives at random from the combined parent pool. In practice expect 2-3 per egg.
- Each parent’s passives contribute equally to the pool. Duplicates between parents are merged, so two parents that both have Lucky give the child the same chance of inheriting Lucky as one parent that has it.
- Negative passives still carry. Cull bad parents before chain breeding.
Serious-breeder workflow: capture or breed two parents with the four passives you want (Lucky, Artisan, Workaholic, Serious for work pals; Musclehead, Ferocious, Lord of Lightning, Burly Body for combat), then breed them together to fix the passives in the line. Run the cycle 4-8 times to land all four targets in one child.
Common Breeding Mistakes
- Breeding without culling negatives. Bad passives (Slacker, Coward, Sluggish) compound across generations. Capture 4-5 parents, pick the cleanest two.
- Wasting eggs on common Pals. If your random combo lands on a Cattiva or Lifmunk, release the egg uneaten and rebreed.
- Forgetting cake supply. No cake means no breed. Set up a wheat farm, Beegarde ranch, and Mozzarina ranch before chain-breeding.
- Using same-element parents thinking it boosts the result. Element does not matter for breeding outcome; only the combined breeding-power number does.
- Not pinning Pals to “Manual Work”. Breeding Pals will wander off to do labour if not pinned.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does breeding work in Palworld?
Pair any male and female pal at a Breeding Farm, feed them a Cake, and they produce an egg. The child pal is determined by averaging both parents’ hidden combiRank values, then picking the pal whose combiRank matches that average. Around 70 specific named pairings are hardcoded to produce rare variants like Frostallion Noct or Jormuntide Ignis.
How many passive skills can an offspring inherit?
Up to 4 passive skills can transfer per child. The game picks an inheritance count of 1 to 4 with weighted probability, then selects that many passives at random from the combined parent pool. In practice expect 2-3 inherited per egg, so plan multiple cycles when chain-breeding for a specific 4-passive combination.
What is the best Cake recipe for breeding?
Cake is the only breeding food. Recipe at the Cooking Pot: 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs, 2 Honey. Set up a wheat plot, berry plot, Mozzarina ranch (milk), Chikipi ranch (eggs), and Beegarde ranch (honey) to keep cake production running unattended.
What is the Anubis breeding combo in Palworld?
Anubis is bred from Penking and Bushi. Use the calculator above to verify the combo and to look up alternative parent pairs for the same offspring.
Do negative passives transfer to offspring?
Yes. Negative passives like Slacker, Coward, and Sluggish are part of the parent pool and can be picked for the child. Cull parents that carry negatives before chain-breeding so they do not compound across generations.
Does element matter when breeding pals?
No. Element type has no effect on the breeding outcome. Only the combined combiRank value of both parents determines the child, with named-exception combos as the only override.
Do you need a male and a female pal to breed?
Yes. Breeding requires one male and one female pal of any species. Two pals of the same gender will not produce an egg. Each pal’s gender is fixed at capture; you cannot change it. Capture multiple of any breeding-target species so you have both genders available.
Can you breed legendary pals like Frostallion or Jetragon?
Yes. Legendary pals are valid breeding parents. Frostallion paired with Helzephyr produces Frostallion Noct, Jormuntide paired with Suzaku produces Jormuntide Ignis, and Jetragon can pair with most other pals to push offspring toward high-tier results. The calculator above lists every legendary-parent combo. Because you only get one of each Alpha legendary in the world, the more practical workflow is breeding legendaries from non-legendary parents using named-exception combos that the calculator handles automatically.
Why is Anubis the most-asked breeding combo?
Anubis has Mining Level 4 work suitability (the best of any non-legendary pal) plus a high attack stat for combat. A single Anubis with Workaholic, Artisan, Serious, and Lucky passives can hold down an entire base mining operation. Penking and Bushi is the canonical recipe; both parents are reasonably common to capture.
How long does it take to hatch a Palworld egg?
Hatch time depends on egg type and ambient temperature. Common eggs hatch fastest, Huge eggs (the variants that produce Alpha-tier offspring) take significantly longer. Place the egg in an Egg Incubator and add the matching temperature source: heat lamps for Scorching or Common eggs, cooler placement for Frozen or Damp eggs. Mismatched temperature roughly halves hatch speed.
Can two of the same species breed in Palworld?
Yes. Two of the same species (one male, one female) will produce an egg of that same species. This is useful for stacking a target species with the right passive skills, since same-species breeding guarantees the offspring identity and frees you to optimize purely on passive inheritance.
What pals are best for the Cake farm?
Mozzarina (Ranch level 1) for Milk, Chikipi (Ranch level 1) for Eggs, Beegarde (Ranch level 1) for Honey, plus a kindling pal at the Cooking Pot for Cake assembly. Pair the ranch with a Wheat Plantation tended by a Planting/Watering pal pair (Lifmunk and Pengullet are entry-level options) and the cake supply runs unattended.
Playing With Friends Across Platforms?
If your breeding party spans PC and console, Palworld in 2026 supports crossplay across Xbox, PS5, Steam, and Game Pass PC on the Microsoft network pool. The breeding mechanics above work identically regardless of which client is connected. See the Palworld crossplay status guide for which platform combinations can share a server and how to configure the right pool.
Run a Palworld Server with Friends
Breeding is most fun on a 24/7 server where your group can split roles. We host Palworld dedicated servers from $7.99/mo with 1-click setup, FTP access, and 5 regions. Servers stay online while you sleep so the breeding farm keeps producing eggs. See plans →
