ARK: Survival Ascended - Ragnarok Resource Map
Updated June 2026 for ARK: Survival Ascended (ASA). Coordinates use the in-game GPS grid (Lat, Lon).
Ragnarok is one of the largest maps in ASA - a remastered Norse-themed expanse of snow biomes, volcanic ridges, redwood forest, desert, and grassy plateaus. Its sheer size means resources are spread out, so knowing the high-yield zones saves hours of grinding. This ARK Ragnarok resource map covers every farmable resource on the map for ASA: metal and rich metal, obsidian, crystal, oil (land veins and underwater), silica pearls, cementing paste from beaver dams, sulfur, salt, and black pearls - with verified in-game coordinates and the best harvesting route for each biome.
Resource node density on Ragnarok is enormous. Community surveys of the ASA map count roughly 449+ metal nodes, 336+ crystal, 295+ obsidian, 418+ oil, and 355+ silica-pearl sources, so you are never short of a deposit - the trick is reaching the right cluster safely. Use the interactive map above to toggle a resource layer, then follow the coordinate tables below for the fastest farming loops.

Metal and Rich Metal Farming - Best Routes
Metal is the backbone of every ASA base, and Ragnarok carries it on the volcano slopes, the highlands ravines, and the snow mountains. Rich metal (the orange-tinted high-yield nodes) clusters tightest around Mount Gunners and the volcano cone. The coordinates below are the most reliable starting points for a metal loop.
Mount Gunners (Top Pick for Endgame)
The center mountain peak has the highest metal density on the map, with 30+ nodes packed across the ridge, including rich-metal rocks. Drop a flyer, mine the surface nodes, take off, repeat across the ridge. A single Ankylosaurus trip with an Argentavis-and-Anky combo nets 3,000+ metal in 10 minutes. The same peak doubles as the safest premium obsidian source, so a Mount Gunners run can fill metal and obsidian in one trip.
Northwest Coast - Quick Early Metal (1, 2 and 8, 3)
For an early loop before you can survive the snow, head to the northwest coast. Around 1, 2 there is a cluster of 30+ metal nodes, and a second pocket of roughly 15 nodes sits at 8, 3 between the redwoods and the mountains. Both are walkable from a coastal base, so this is the go-to metal run for a fresh character on a new server.
Snow Biome (Mid-Game)
The northern slopes are dense in metal nodes. Pros: easy walking. Cons: cold debuff drains health if unequipped, plus aggressive Yutyrannus and Direwolf packs. Bring fur armor, a tamed Yutyrannus for the cold buff, and a tank dino like a Stegosaurus or Doedicurus.
Obsidian Farming - Best Routes
Obsidian on Ragnarok sits mainly in the volcano region and the mountainous interior, but the map also offers rare surface fields that need no cave diving. Pick your spot by how much risk you can carry.
Volcano (Motherload) + Mount Gunners
The volcano cone holds premium obsidian alongside metal and crystal - but eruption events damage flyers and the area carries alpha spawns. Use the Mount Gunners side instead: same yield, no eruption. If you do dive the cone, time the eruption cycle and stage your flyer well clear of the crater.
Surface Obsidian Field (around 6, 16)
One of the easiest obsidian runs on the map is the field near 6, 16 in the southwest grassy plateaus, where 30+ obsidian rocks sit on the surface and above the waterline. No cave, no eruption - just walk up, mine, and fly home. This is the best entry-level obsidian run and works from around character level 25.
Cliff Ridge and Safe Cave (8, 5 and 0, 8)
The cliff ridge near 8, 5 on the northwest corner exposes a line of obsidian boulders, and a nearby cave at roughly 0, 8 holds obsidian with no dangerous creatures inside - a calm spot for a solo miner.
Cave Bridge at 21, 65
A natural bridge near coordinates 21, 65 leads through a small cave lined with obsidian throughout. Less risk than the volcano, more yield than open-surface obsidian. Ideal for solo runs.
Murder Snow (south-east)
Heading south and east into the Murder Snow region, you will find a dense obsidian deposit among the blizzards. The yield rivals the volcano, but the cold debuff and Wyvern spawns make it a late-game-only run - bring fur armor and a Yutyrannus.
Crystal Farming - Best Routes
Crystal feeds your electronics, polymer, and saddle blueprints, and Ragnarok keeps the richest seams on mountain peaks and inside cave systems. Two spots stand out:
- Volcano Motherload (around 32, 56): the interior of the volcano is loaded with crystal once you reach the lava chamber. High reward, high risk - the same trip that yields obsidian and metal.
- Ice Cave (around 30, 35): a cold but calmer alternative, the Ice Cave holds a solid crystal deposit. Pack fur armor and a torch.
An Ankylosaurus harvests crystal at a bonus rate, so the same anky you bring for metal and obsidian covers crystal too.
Oil Farming - Land Veins and Underwater
Oil is the trickiest industrial resource on Ragnarok because the best veins are scattered across the snow biome peaks rather than concentrated in one cluster. There are two ways to farm it: surface oil veins (mined with a metal pick or an Ankylosaurus) and ocean-floor oil nodes (harvested underwater).
Land Oil Veins
- 31.7, 34.4 (northwest): two veins close together with one more a little to the east.
- 38.9, 32.4 (west, on a cliff): two veins facing a cliff just west of the spot above.
- 38.9, 63.5 (northeast, frozen lake): three oil veins clustered near a frozen lake - the single best surface oil stop in the north.
- 82, 80 (desert): four oil veins clustered together in the desert, the easiest one-stop oil field if you can survive the heat and Wyverns.
- 83, 28 (bottom-left corner): a quieter southwestern vein cluster away from the desert traffic.
Snow-Cave Oil Nodes
- 29.9, 32.4: a snow-biome cave holding multiple oil nodes - cold but sheltered from flyers.
- 36.3, 36.5: a snow tunnel near the rune bridge with scattered oil nodes.
If you only need a small amount of oil, harvesting dead Basilosaurus bodies on the beaches drops some too, though the yield is far lower than rock veins.
Silica Pearls and Beaver Dams (Cementing Paste)
Silica pearls live underwater, and Ragnarok concentrates them inside coastal caves where you barely need oxygen tanks. Cementing paste comes from Giant Beaver dams in the river systems - grab both on the same coastal lap.
Silica Pearls
- Vikings Bay cave (around 22, 36): the entrance sits near a sunken pirate ship at roughly 21.9, 33; inside, silica pearls cover nearly every surface. This is the densest silica spot on the map.
- Pelagornis Bay cave (around 33, 44): shallow water means little oxygen is needed - the best beginner silica run.
Beaver Dams (Cementing Paste)
Cementing paste comes from raiding Giant Beaver dams (or by combining chitin and stone). The most reliable dam-rich riverbeds are around 37.8, 76.6 (redwood river near the snow biome) and 24.2, 44.5, with another dam line south of the Green Obelisk near 62, 35. Approach unmounted or on a calm tame - beavers turn hostile when you loot their dams.
Sulfur, Salt, and Black Pearls
- Sulfur (24.2, 70.9): the Wyvern Trench rim carries sulfur deposits. A second island deposit sits near 84.2, 31.8 close to the Green Obelisk. Sulfur is needed for advanced ammunition and recipes.
- Salt: salt clusters in the desert region in the southeast; mine the salt flats there with a pick or Doedicurus.
- Black Pearls (47, 4 and 70, 21): the deep southern and southwestern oceans hold black pearls, often guarded by Tusoteuthis. Bring a strong aquatic tame such as a Basilosaurus (immune to Tuso grab) or a Mosasaurus.

| Carry tame | Argentavis or Quetzal | Carry the Anky in for big runs; Quetz with platform saddle is endgame |
Ragnarok-Specific Resources
Ragnarok adds creatures and resources unique to the map:
- Organic Polymer - Kairuku (penguins) in the snow biome and Karkinos (giant crabs) on the southern beaches are quick organic-polymer sources, no Obsidian crafting required.
- Cactus Sap - harvest the large desert cacti in the southeast for cactus sap, used in Lazarus Chowder and other recipes.
- Wyvern resources - the Wyvern Trench yields Wyvern eggs and milk; Fire, Lightning, Ice, and Poison Wyverns all spawn there.
- Silk - desert biome bushes drop silk for desert cloth armor.

Weather & Biome Hazards
- Snow biome: cold debuff drains stamina + food fast. Fur armor recommended.
- Volcano: eruption events deal AOE damage. Avoid the crater during alerts.
- Wyvern Trench: spawns Fire/Lightning/Ice Wyverns. Egg runs are profitable but high risk.
- Storms (north): visibility drops, predator aggression up.
Recommended Run Order (New Map, Solo)
- Day 1 - 3: Tame an Argentavis or Pteranodon for travel.
- Day 4 - 7: Tame a low-level Ankylosaurus. Run the northwest coast (1,2 and 8,3) and the surface obsidian field near 6,16 for early metal and obsidian.
- Day 7 - 14: Push into the snow biome with fur armor; full metal stockpile run, and grab the frozen-lake oil veins at 38.9, 63.5.
- Day 14+: Mount Gunners runs for endgame metal and obsidian. Phoenix tame if available. Lap the Vikings Bay silica cave at 22, 36.
- Day 30+: Wyvern eggs from the trench, black-pearl dives at 47,4, and Forsaken Oasis boss prep.
Common Mistakes
- Trying to mine obsidian without an Ankylosaurus or Phoenix - pickaxe yield is 5x lower.
- Going to the volcano without measuring eruption timing - your flyer dies first.
- Skipping fur armor for snow runs - you starve before the route is done.
- Diving the Vikings Bay silica cave without checking oxygen and clearing sharks first.
- Forgetting a Yutyrannus for cold-buff stacks.
